Paramount Network announced Monday that Yellowstone has resumed production.
Filming on the Western hit’s final season five episodes has gotten underway in Montana.
While start of production was later than previously thought, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios still expect the drama to return in November, as previously announced last year.
There was no update on the show’s cast — or whether star Kevin Costner will make an appearance in the final episodes that are expected to wrap the series.
Yellowstone aired it last episode more than a year ago — in January, 2023 — amid Paramount Network deciding to split the season into two parts. Talks of infighting over scheduling and script delays between Costner and showrunner Taylor Sheridan ensued for many months, with Costner also focusing on his upcoming Western epic Horizon: An American Saga. The cast and crew had been planning to resume filming in March 2023 with an announced summer premiere date,...

Wake up, fans of “The Sandman,” we’ve got some Season 2 news for you: The Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s epic graphic novel series has cast the final three siblings in the “Endless Family” of Tom Sturridge’s Dream — Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”
In “The Sandman” comic book series, The Prodigal is the estranged Endless sibling named Destruction, but Netflix has taken care to label Sloane’s role as “The Prodigal,” which is the way the character is referred to throughout the first volumes of the story. The three new castings point to “The Sandman” Season 2 covering the graphic novel’s iconic installment, “Season of Mists.”
The trio of new “The Sandman” Season 2 actors will join the Endless siblings returning from Season 1: Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

One lucky contestant avoided temptation on Monday’s (May 21) edition of The Price Is Right at Night on CBS, winning himself a brand-new car and making history in the process. The contestant in question was Donald, who made it up to the stage to face the tricky “Temptation,” one of the long-running game show’s hardest games to win. For context, until Monday night, no one had won this game for three years. And there had only been only five winners since Drew Carey started hosting the show in 2007. For those unfamiliar with how “Temptation” works, the contestant is shown the first digit in the price of a car. They are then tempted with four prizes (referred to as “gifts”) — each prize’s price or total cash amount is displayed, with one of the digits being the next digit in the price of the car. The contestant must then guess...

You may not have liked the name of the new Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV+ bundle, which is called StreamSaver, but perhaps the price is more enticing.
On Tuesday, Comcast announced its Xfinity StreamSaver will cost $15 per month. It is a savings of about 35 percent per month vs. subscribing to each of the three streaming-video services individually.
We’re choosing to look at it as buying Apple TV+ and Peacock Premium, and getting Netflix for free — but it’s actually still a dollar less than that.
StreamSaver launches next week — but it’s only for Comcast customers. Xfinity StreamSaver is only available to Xfinity Internet and TV customers. Comcast customers can also combine StreamSaver with its now Now TV for one all-in-monthly price of $30; it’s called the Now StreamSaver bundle.

The spree killer case is going to be the top priority for all of our favorite detectives in Will Trent‘s Season 2 finale episode, “Do You See the Vision”? And in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, it’s clear they’ll be taking extraordinary (and unusual) measures to try and solve the case. In this first look at Tuesday’s episode, Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez), Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson), Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), and Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) put their heads together to review the newest evidence in a room littered with takeout containers. (They’re on some kind of odd cleaning strike until they break the case for … reasons.) Yet another dead body has been discovered, and the circumstances match the rash of other victims that have popped up around town. “Blake Turner was not a registered sex offender, but apparently, he was your standard nasty a** creep,...

Former Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. has signed on to host a documentary podcast for NPR about the intersection of baseball and civil rights.
Wood will host Road to Rickwood, a new podcast produced by NPR Networks with support from Major League Baseball. The show will cover how a baseball field in Birmingham, Alabama—Rickwood Field, the oldest ballpark in the country—played many parts in the city’s history as an epicenter of fights for freedom and equality.
Wood, who was raised in Birmingham, will “explore the ballpark’s deep ties to the Negro Leagues, Civil Rights Movement and women’s suffrage,” according to NPR.
“In the last 114 years, this venue has had a front-row seat to Alabama’s struggle for freedom,” Wood says in a trailer for the podcast. “From a women’s suffrage rally to a Klan rally; from segregated baseball to the first integrated sports team in Alabama.

Almost every episode of The Shield begins the same way, with a quick look at what previously happened on The Shield. This was neither new nor uncommon for TV in the early 2000s, when Shawn Ryan’s gritty Los Angeles cop drama premiered on FX. If you watched ’90s network hits like ER or The X-Files, you were well-acquainted with recap sequences, those tightly edited opening montages designed to jog the audience’s memory of past plot points.
But on The Shield, such reminders were less a courtesy than a necessity. Skip the opening 60 seconds of this show and you risked feeling lost over the 40 minutes that followed, because there was a good chance they would involve something you had forgotten about, something even the characters had filed away as yesterday’s news.

So You Think You Can Dance closed out its 18th season on Monday night (May 20), and it came down to the two contestants who met and fell in love on the show. The three finalists — 18-year-old Dakayla Wilson, 18-year-old Anthony Curley, and 21-year-old Madison Alvarado — came into Monday’s finale looking to impress the judges one last time and take home the $100,000 grand prize. While this season of Sytycd adopted a pre-taped, weekly-industry-challenge format, the finale returned to a more back-to-basics approach, with the three finalists tasked with performing duets to help clinch the win. Each finalist was paired with a previously eliminated Top 10 contestant for the duets, which included Madison teaming with Braylon, Anthony with Mariyah, and Dakayla with Easton. All three finalists were given high praise from judges Allison Holker, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and JoJo Siwa. Holker called Madison “the most consistent dancer” of the season, and Anthony will...

As the longest running reality television series, “Survivor” has become a household name. Just think of the famous catchphrases. Who hasn’t said they wanted to vote an irritating person “off the island” or used “the tribe has spoken” at one punny point in their life? After three decades of filming, this year’s Season 46 is proving that changes to this season’s unique gameplay combining social, mental, and physical elements is the key to keeping the series exciting, highly discussable, and popular with viewers.
New aspects of the game introduced after the pandemic have earned the last five seasons the fan-dubbed moniker “New Era Survivor” for good reason. Instead of 39 days, “Survivor” is now played in a shorter and more intense 26 days. Forget those lavish days of “Survivor’s” past with building supplies, canned food and rice, and comfy hammocks. All My Children alum Susan Lucci had good reason to tell the 1999 Daytime Emmys audience she “truly never believed” that her Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series win would happen. After all, the soap legend behind Erica Kane had lost that award 18 times — and had lost to Guiding Light’s Kim Zimmer and One Life to Live’s Erika Slezak multiple times — by the time she finally took home the trophy 25 years ago now, on May 21, 1999. By that point, Lucci had become the highest-paid actor on daytime television, but Emmy gold was still out of reach. She had made light of her losing streak, as GoldDerby reports, on Saturday Night Live — in an opening monologue in which SNL’s cast and crew flaunt their Emmy trophies — and in a TV commercial — saying that with the sugar substitute Sweet One, she had everything she wanted “except that Emmy!” Lucci’s...

On Monday’s episode, the five remaining acts were tasked with performing an up-tempo song and a ballad. It was a night of fun and emotion, which, at one point, saw coach John Legend moved to tears. Team Legend’s Nathan Chester kicked things off with his upbeat performance of The Isley Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing,” electrifying the audience with his vocal range and stage presence. Later in the evening, Chester returned to the stage for a rousing rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You,” hitting every note perfectly and making a great case for why he should be crowned champion. An unlucky Wheel of Fortune contestant cost themselves a trip to Mexico after missing one tiny two-letter word from their spoken answer. Now many fans are saying that the ruling was “too tough” and “unfair.” Last Thursday’s (May 16) episode saw a face-off between Kerry Ruiz, a wellness studio co-owner from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amanda Morris, a billiards player from Wilmington, North Carolina, and Dee Merritt, a Navy sexual assault response coordinator from Portsmouth, Virginia. During the Express Round, the three contestants were faced with a six-word “Phrase” puzzle that read, “_ N O _ _ / I T / O _ T / O F / T H E / _ _ _ _.” Merritt was first to take a guess at solving the puzzle, answering, “Knock it out the park.” At first glance her answer seemed completely correct to many viewers. But it wasn’t precise enough. “I’m sorry,” host Pat Sajak responded as the buzzer sounded to indicate Merritt was incorrect.

A clearly thrilled Grant DeYoung won his fourth game of Jeopardy! on Monday night (May 20) despite trailing his opponents for the majority of the episode. The Prescott, Arizona native came into the episode as a three-day champion, having won $67,202 in his previous appearances. However, things got off to a rocky start as five incorrect responses put DeYoung behind his competitors, filmmaker Gregg Meller and student Ivvone Zhou. Meller continued strongly in the next round, finding both Daily Doubles. Unfortunately, he wagered big on the second, losing a big chunk of his earnings and allowing DeYoung to take a slight lead heading into Final Jeopardy. DeYoung and Zhou both answered Final Jeopardy correctly, but DeYoung wagered enough to snatch the win by just $1, finishing with $14,001 over Zhou’s $14,000. And, in what seems to be just her luck, she found the first round’s Daily Double right away, betting the $1,000 she could without any money in the bank yet. In the category “Short Kingdoms,” the clue was: “In 1814, this historic German state was made into a kingdom for a little while, largely through the influence of England.” While Groce guessed it was Prussia, host Ken Jennings kindly informed her it was actually Hanover, which meant in a surprising turn,...

“The Crown” can only play a pair of Queens at the Emmys.
Emmy winner Olivia Colman, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth in the series finale episode of Netflix’s monarchy drama, is not eligible to submit in the guest drama actress race by only a few seconds. However, her co-star Claire Foy, who also portrays Her Majesty in her younger years and appears in the same episode, is eligible and will be the sole guest submission for the series, angling for her second win in the category.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Yulin Kuang’s new novel “How to End a Love Story,” which was released April 9.
Yulin Kuang was deep into her romance-novel era before she released her own first attempt at the genre, “How to End a Love Story,” last month. The debut author, who has thus far spent her career focused on TV and film writing, actually started penning her book while in the middle of adapting two rom-coms by best-selling author Emily Henry: “Beach Read” (which Kuang will also direct) and “People We Meet on Vacation.”

Blue Bloods isn’t interested in reinventing the wheel in its final season. Showrunner Kevin Wade tells TV Insider that just like in Season 14 Part 1 and its finale, which aired on Friday, May 17 on CBS, Blue Bloods‘ final episodes will be reliably familiar territory, but it will always aim to entertain its loyal viewers. There are dramatic turns they’re interested in exploring, like the bail reform plot line and Aidan Quinn‘s violent reaction to it in the midseason finale, but one thing that’s not likely to happen when the show returns is a Danny and Baez romance. Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) had the heavy task of reining in Quinn’s Det. Gus Vanderlip, who had gone rogue in response to a serial rapist he had arrested two weeks prior being released. Between this storyline and the crooked sober-living house at which Jamie (Will Estes...

Apple TV+‘s sweetest family comedy Trying is coming back with a bit of a time jump as parents Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) deal with the growing pains of teen children. After officially adopting Princess and Tyler in Season 3—which saw the couple finally tie the knot—Nikki and Jason are six years into their marriage and parenting journey. And while their close-knit unit is solid, lingering questions direct them and their kids down some adventurous paths in Season 4. “We are six years ahead, which is quite a rare time jump in television in the comedic world,” Spall tells TV Insider. “And Princess is now a teenager and our son, Tyler, is 11. And obviously, having a teenager and kids at that age presents a lot of challenges in conventional families.” Both Princess and Tyler are played by new older actors, Scarlett Rayner and Cooper Turner. The Good Doctor is sadly coming to an end after seven seasons, and it has been quite the right over the years. In the aptly titled “Goodbye,” the doctors work together to solve one of the most important cases of their careers. And there have been quite a few of those along the way. For star Freddie Highmore and showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman, narrowing that down isn’t easy. “The ones that come to mind are big sort of Shaun beats,” Highmore tells TV Insider, pointing to Season 4’s “Dr. Ted” and “Love’s Labor” in Season 6. “When Shaun and Lea [Paige Spara] tragically lost their first baby felt like a special episode. And Season 6 was a special season, very much a journey with ups and down that ultimately culminated in them having a kid in the season finale.” For Shore, he does say choosing a favorite moment is like being asked,...

It’s not the first time a Netflix series has resurfaced a classic song from the 1980s, but unlike Kate Bush and Stranger Things, British New Wave band Wang Chung had no idea that John Mulaney had opted to use “To Live and Die in L.A.,” their 1985 ode to La La Land, as the theme song for his recent Netflix talk show, Everybody’s in L.A.
“It’s a total surprise that it’s blown up in the way that it has,” Wang Chung lead singer Jack Hues told Variety in an interview published Monday.
“It’s so nice to see it get used in such a cool way,” added guitarist Nick Feldman, a self-professed fan of Mulaney’s work. “The way it’s placed into the show—which I’ve watched a couple of episodes and I really liked—it really works well. That collage of images from Los Angeles,...

Before digital tools allowed composers to simulate any instrument on a laptop, musical scores for TV were simple melodies performed by a handful of session musicians. The newer technology meant those musicians lost their jobs; so did the guy who transcribed the composer’s scores.
However: That doesn’t mean scores require fewer people, or became cheaper to produce.
Today, even the smallest TV shows employ full orchestras. Tech made things easier, but the cost to produce scores for film and TV has only increased. With greater possibilities, more advanced jobs replaced those that were lost.
That’s the analogy Matt Nix, showrunner for “Burn Notice” and the recent “True Lies,” used when describing the advent of artificial intelligence at the May 16 AI on the Lot summit at Los Angeles Center Studios. He rejected the idea that AI will become a pathway to low-cost filmmaking and TV production that uses...

Peter Morgan, creator of Netflix’s award-winning drama “The Crown,” is weighing in on King Charles III’s new, highly divisive portrait.
“The picture is at least partially successful, I think,” Morgan told me Friday at an FYC event for the “Crown’s” final season. “I belong more to the positive side, but I’m not trying to give it five stars. I’d certainly go three or four out of five. I like that it’s vivid, I love that it’s got us talking, I love that it arouses emotions. It immediately makes you want to look more closely.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“It did feel like the Avengers assembling,” said executive producer Sam Rees-Jones of casting the first all-celebrity edition of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “We knew in Season 2 we wanted to assemble an all celebrity cast knowing that that would create a buzz as well, and would help build on the success of Season 1,” said executive producer Mike Cotton.
The pair, based in the United Kingdom, told IndieWire over Zoom that another key change for the second season of the reality competition series where “faithful” contestants try to weed out who among them are traitors before the latter steal all the money they earned from completing missions was changing the way in which the episodes were rolled out.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the A Gentleman in Moscow finale.] A Gentleman in Moscow‘s series finale honored its source material with an ambiguous ending. The episode, which aired on Sunday, May 19 on Showtime, revealed what happened after Count Alexander Rostov (Ewan McGregor), Anna (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sofia (Beau Gadsdon), and the rest of their friends at the Hotel Metropol launched their plan to get Sofia out of Russia. This also led to Rostov walking out of the hotel’s front doors — an act that’s been paired with the threat of death for decades as he carried out his house arrest in the high-end hotel. After much planning, Sofia’s school trip became the catalyst for her escape in Season 1 Episode 8, “Adieu.” While some roadblocks set her back and threatened her safe departure, the plan worked out in the end. The signal — every phone in the Metropol lobby going off in quick succession — was...

With only one episode of Chicago P.D. to go with Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton, we can’t help but think that the show is running out of time to reunite her and Jay Halstead. But will it? Given where Upton’s story has been going this season, we have to admit that we’re leaning towards no—and it shouldn’t. The season began with her signing divorce papers amidst her struggling at work, and we’ve watched that play out during conversations with both Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Svu’s Detective Josephine “Jo” Petrovic (Bojana Novakovic). One thing that has become clear is that however Upton is written out, it has to be about her, not about her relationship with Halstead. Would a hint that they may have a future be great? Yes, after watching their love story play out over multiple seasons and...

TV Insider caught up with him to chat about his 20th anniversary in daytime, his primetime credits, and his adorable twin boys. There was no message to young men. There was no saying he was going to donate his millions to a domestic violence shelter. And part of this conversation I’ve seen since this video emerged is this question of, ‘Why didn’t she leave?’ I want to speak to that,” Griffin said. “I once was a victim of domestic abuse in a prior relationship,” the former Trump White House staffer explained. “It happened once. We know that the FBI nearly always get its man—or woman—and it’s especially true for the New York Bureau folks on CBS’s FBI this season. In the Season 6 premiere, Special Agent Trevor Hobbs (Roshawn Franklin) was killed in a restaurant men’s room by Hakim Siran (Antwayn Hopper), a Somalian terrorist whose team had just bombed a bus and who made him as law enforcement after Special Agent Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Kane) encouraged him to go undercover despite not having done it for a long time. Hakim had escaped and left the country, but a guilt-ridden Wallace had kept him on her radar and towards the end of the season believed him to back in the States. Kane talks about Wallace’s emotional state as the fraught season finale approaches and whether she’ll be the one who finally takes the terrorist who’s been haunting her down.
