Adhkhana Bhalo Chele Adha Mostaan (2021)
Nostalgia
Regardless of the fact it took me back to my own childhood, every song hit a different chord. The direction was amazing and abstract. It wasn't trying to be anything but was simply trying to explore who Arnob is and what his songs mean to us. Thank you for making this.
Malang - Unleash the Madness (2020)
Did not make any sense at all.
Totally illogical, nothing really makes sense. Probably one of the most senseless movies I've watched. Full of overacting and exaggeration and too many coincidences. The plot twists were super dumb and didn't make any freaking sense. To be very honest, if you're down for mindless, nonsensical drama, feel free to go ahead. Waste of my two hours.
Ghost Stories (2020)
They have got it all wrong. Brave attempts!
Typical movie watchers would expect to be shocked and spooked from a movie like this but if you really want to get the most out of this movie, think of the stories as more psychological and less jump-scare horror.
In recent times, the horror genre has transcended to something different, at least the good films have demonstrated that. Directors like Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) and Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) have gone onto greater lengths to use the horror genre to express their personal views about humans and societies behave. Topics like loneliness, cults, folklores are beautifully visualized and explained in great movies like this.
I feel like the directors have tried to do something like that. Zoya Akter's story was just plain horror but was not as bad as the others are saying. Anurag's one was my personal favorite as it was very deep and the viewer must try to understand a little harder about what's going on and rather just take everything as it's given, it definitely has subtext. Dibakar's story was also very good with zombie horror used as a cover to to explore other important topics. Except Karan Johar's one was a little funny and not as scary as it wanted to be. It didn't even have any depth or any good backstory to back it up.
I feel like if the viewers watch it as a good thriller/mystery movie with a touch of horror, they will appreciate it more.
