HBO has unveiled its DVD plans for the surprisingly good series True Blood . The entire first season, which recently wrapped until season two kicks off next summer, will street on May 12th. Expect a widescreen (16:9) transfer with Dolby Surround Stereo sound. All twelve episodes will be collected on five discs. Currently, HBO's shop has it listed with a price tag of $59.99. Starring Anna Paquin, the series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people's minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) walks into her place of employment two years after vampires "came out of the coffin" on national television.

Entertainment Weekly Casting The Volturi in New Moon the Twilight sequelnbspNow that we know the sequel to boxoffice smash Twilight is a go its time to consider casting some of the most nefarious and frightening characters of the entire series The Volturi. Here are my picks for a few of the baddie bloodsuckers wholl be introduced in New MoonJane The only actress I want to see take on the role of the petite pain inflictor with the childlike voice is Pushing Daisies Kristin Chenoweth. Her voice is certainly high enough and at 411 shes also short enough. Aro The mindreading Volturi leader is described as having long dark hair and translucently white skin. As much as Id love to see True Bloods Stephen Moyer take a stab at the royal role Im going to think outside the coffin and offer up Crispin Glover who has a knack for playing creepy and

While the second season is still literally months away, the first chapter of "True Blood" can be watched again through HBO's "On Demand". A new promo of the popular Vampire series has been put up by the network, aimed to introduce those subscribers who haven't watched the show over the Fall season.
Starring Anna Paquin as a waitress named Sookie Stackhouse and Stephen Moyer as a vampire named Bill Compton who falls for Sookie, "True Blood" started off slow when it first hit the screen in September. It gained mere 1.44 million viewers on the first week, but steadily absorbs fans and caught up to 60 per cent increase in its viewing with 2.4million as the number for its season finale. The Associated Press marks the show as being watched by averagely 6.8 million people per week.
The second season will not arrive until the end of midseason 2009, reportedly in June since the

HBO’s adaptation of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels, True Blood, reaches its first season finale tonight. A second season has already been green-lit and in production for fall 2009.
With vampires all the rage, as witnessed by this weekend’s explosive box office for Twilight and other vamp tales getting optioned, the timing seemed serendipitous for the premium channel, which needed a hit.
The series, starring Anna Paquin, has seen its viewership rise by 66 percent since its debut in September, now averaging 6.8 million viewers.
"After Six Feet Under, where as an artist and a person I got to explore my whole relationship with grief for about five years, I just felt, Ok, I don't really need to spend any more time staring into the abyss," series creator Alan Ball told the Associated Press.
His pitch was readily accepted by HBO and the series quietly went into production. A viral marketing campaign,

Photo: HBO HBO was kind enough to send me the next three episodes of their new vampire series "True Blood" and tonight, Sunday, September 21 is episode 1.03 "Mine" and if things continue down this path I am not sure how much longer I can stick with this series. However, we already know HBO is sticking with the series for at least one more season. The first episode was watched by more than four million viewers and the following episode saw an impressive 24% gain in viewership, impressive to say the least and considering the cliffhanger at the end of episode two I can't imagine the series losing any viewers. When we last left Sookie (Anna Paquin) she was paying a late night visit to the 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) only to be met at the door by a trio of vampires that didn't seem intent on spending the night playing Scattergories.

Blood, sex and rock’n’roll – that is the best way to describe HBO’s new show ‘True Blood’! Even though I am a sucker for a vampire story, the show really did have me sucked in after the first scene in the first episode faded to black! In ‘True Blood,’ vampires have come out of their coffins, so to speak, and joined the human population because a Japanese scientist has invented and perfected synthetic blood. Vampires are fighting for civil and equal rights like we humans have. Bon Temps, Louisiana, where ‘True Blood’ is set, has no vampires until one night when Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) walks into Merlotte’s Bar. The telepathic Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) waitresses in Merlotte’s, and she knows Bill is a vampire when he arrives because she can’t hear his thoughts. She is immediately intrigued and drawn to him, because this is a first.

Photo: HBO The fake southern accents, the acting and just about everything else having to do with HBO's new vampire series "True Blood" is cheesy and soapy. It has the cheap feel of a trashy romance novel. It's "90210" with fangs. It's "The O.C." if Ryan was a vampire and Marissa was a voluptuous and equally chaste backwoods hillbilly waitress. Yeah, there are a few differences there, but it's all the same. Only thing is, I am not saying these things to be mean. I enjoyed "The O.C.", all four sh!tty seasons of it. I just received my review copies of "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" so I am down with soapy immaterial television. Toss in vampires, a ton of sex, violence, nudity and the promise of werewolves and I am sold... at least for now. "True Blood" is based on a world created by novelist Charlaine Harris

September 7th at 9Pm marks the premiere of HBO's new vampire series, True Blood, which is from the producer of Six Feet Under. If you're a vampire fiend and can't wait for the new series, you can get pumped by checking out two original documentaries on vampires airing before the premiere. Both will air on September 6. The docs are titled True Bloodlines: A New Type and True Bloodlines: Vampire Legends. Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin, below), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. "Cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.
