Fox is developing a new dramedy about a quartet of female friends in New York who happen to be werewolves. The project, titled Bitches, is described as a quirky urban fairy tale. The project has received a script plus penalty commitment from the network and comes from feature writer/director Michael Dougherty and Warner Bros. TV. TV writing duo Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts (Pushing Daisies) have come on board to supervise Dougherty. The two also will serve as executive producers alongside Dougherty if the project goes to series. Dougherty’s writing credits include X2, Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, Superman Returns and Trick 'r Treat, which he also directed. Trick 'r Treat is an anthology horror flick starring Anna Paquin and Dougherty’s feature directing debut. Although receiving great reviews on the festival circuit it has faced many delays and still hasn’t seen a wide release.

Rick Baker was honored by the International Press Academy this past weekend in Los Angeles.
Director John Landis presented Baker the Tesla Award for recognition of Visionary Achievement in Filmmaking Technology. It was the young director who first hired Baker in 1971 for Schlock. They have worked together ever since including An American Werewolf in London which earned Baker the first of six Academy Awards.
He later told Sci Fi Wire that his work on next year’s The Wolfman pays homage to the Universal original, not his own werewolf efforts. "I had a lot of trouble with that, because Benicio already looks like a werewolf, especially when he grows his facial hair out," Baker said. "I kept telling them that he wouldn't look too much different.
"This one is different, and harkens back to the classic Wolf Man I'm not sure what they are going to do about the transformation

"Slumdog Millionaire" has been hailed as 2008 Best Motion Picture in Drama at the 13th Satellite Awards. On Sunday, December 14 at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, the Danny Boyle-directed movie about a poor Indian boy getting a shot at winning millions in a television game show was revealed to be the winner on the coveted category, besting over "The Reader", "Revolutionary Road", "Frost/Nixon", "Milk" and "Frozen River".
Apart from taking home the top prize, the 2008 Best British Independent Film also nailed two other kudos. The first one was Best Director for Danny Boyle and the second was Best Score for A.R. Rahman. For the director prize, Boyle won over Thomas McCarthy of "The Visitor", Ron Howard of "Frost/Nixon", Gus Van Sant of "Milk", Christopher Nolan of "The Dark Knight" and Stephen Daldry of "The Reader".
Another movie collecting three awards from Satellite was Baz Luhrmann's "Australia". On the special occasion,

Doubt, Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button were the top movies at the announcement of this year's Golden Globe nominations, each receiving five nods apiece.
Surprisingly, though, only two of those films -- Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button -- were up for the Best Picture - Drama award, as Doubt was shut out of the category in favor of The Reader, Revolutionary Road, and Slumdog Millionaire, each of which nabbed four nominations. Doubt, however, received the most acting nominations of any film, as all four of its primary stars -- Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis -- were recognized; the drama's fifth nomination was for Best Screenplay. Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button received nominations in the exact same five categories: Best Picture - Drama, Best Actor (Frank Langella and Brad Pitt, respectively), Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Score.
On the Comedy/Musical side,

The nominations for the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards, covering both film and television, are in. There aren’t too many shocking surprises expect maybe The Wrestler and Milk not getting Best Picture noms. Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. and James Franco all got nominated for their work in Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express and I was glad to see In Bruges, one of the most underrated films of the year, get some love too. This morning’s announcement of nominations for the Golden Globe Awards brought good news and bad news. The good news: Tina Fey and 30 Rock still rule.
The bad news: Julia Louise-Dreyfus does not.
So, who took Dreyfus’ place in the Best Actress category for TV musical or comedy? Debra Messing, for The Starter Wife. That leads me to believe that none of the Golden Globe voters has ever watched The Starter Wife. L-a-m-e.
Voters did, however, keep their wits about them when they nominated America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Mary Louise-Parker (Weeds) and Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?). Although I could never be untrue to Tina, I have to say that I’m secretly rooting for Applegate this year. What an amazing woman.
In the TV drama category, Best Actress nominees are Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters), January Jones (Mad Men), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Mariska Hargitay

This year’s Golden Globe nominees have been announced! Jon Hamm, Tina Fey and David Duchovny once again receive some well-deserved nods in their respective categories while I’m not quite sure how I feel about those True Blood nominations, but yay for Mad Men’s January Jones, up for Best Actress in a Television Drama! Lost is no where to be found on the list, but who cares, just give the damn thing to Dexter and Michael C. Hall and be done with it. Below are the categories we care about, if you really wanna know who’s up for Best Actress in a Mini-Series you’re gonna have to make the jump… Best Television Drama ‘Dexter’ ‘House’ ‘In Treatment’ ‘Mad Men’ ‘True Blood’ Best Actor - Television Drama Gabriel Byrne, ‘In Treatment’ Michael C. There may be another set of twins coming to the Jolie-Pitt household – twin Golden Globe Awards, that is. Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were among those nominated Thursday morning for Golden Globes, part of Hollywood's pre-Oscar awards' season frenzy now underway. Pitt was nominated for his leading dramatic role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which, along with director Ron Howard's adaptation of the stage drama Frost/Nixon and another stage-to-screen transfer, Doubt, led the Globes' list, with five nominations each. The Reader, Revolutionary Road and Slumdog Millionaire are also nominees for best dramatic picture. Best musical

Photo: Hollywood Foreign Press Association The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 2009 Golden Globes this morning and the complete list of Motion Picture nominees out of 184 live-action feature films (113 drama and 71 comedies or musicals) and 8 animated feature films is listed below. Looking over the surprises I would have to say The Reader getting in as a Best Picture (Drama) nominee while films such as The Dark Knight and Milk get snubbed is a major surprise. Michael Shannon not being nominated for Revolutionary Road while Tom Cruise gets a nod for his performance in Tropic Thunder caught me off guard and I am sure James Franco wasn't expecting a nomination for Pineapple Express as much as he was hoping for one from Milk, but I am sure he will take it either way. I am also assuming there will be a 50/50 discussion on whether or not Angelina Jolie

While the second season is still literally months away, the first chapter of "True Blood" can be watched again through HBO's "On Demand". A new promo of the popular Vampire series has been put up by the network, aimed to introduce those subscribers who haven't watched the show over the Fall season.
Starring Anna Paquin as a waitress named Sookie Stackhouse and Stephen Moyer as a vampire named Bill Compton who falls for Sookie, "True Blood" started off slow when it first hit the screen in September. It gained mere 1.44 million viewers on the first week, but steadily absorbs fans and caught up to 60 per cent increase in its viewing with 2.4million as the number for its season finale. The Associated Press marks the show as being watched by averagely 6.8 million people per week.

HBO’s adaptation of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels, True Blood, reaches its first season finale tonight. A second season has already been green-lit and in production for fall 2009.
With vampires all the rage, as witnessed by this weekend’s explosive box office for Twilight and other vamp tales getting optioned, the timing seemed serendipitous for the premium channel, which needed a hit.
The series, starring Anna Paquin, has seen its viewership rise by 66 percent since its debut in September, now averaging 6.8 million viewers.
"After Six Feet Under, where as an artist and a person I got to explore my whole relationship with grief for about five years, I just felt, Ok, I don't really need to spend any more time staring into the abyss," series creator Alan Ball told the Associated Press.
His pitch was readily accepted by HBO and the series quietly went into production. A viral marketing campaign,
