Although House of the Dragon was intense from the beginning, the first season was written as an introduction to the story that will take place in season 2. Viewers got to know the characters, get into the plot, pick their personal favorites, and start rooting for them.
Season 2, however, is about to change everything, as both branches of the Targaryen family will enter the battlefield to start a real war for the Iron Throne. While most fans may have already decided whether they're Team Green or Team Black, the events of the upcoming episodes are likely to change that.
What Happens to Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon Season 2?
Even though many viewers came to despise Alicent Hightower during the first season, there is still a chance for her to either redeem herself or attract more attention by becoming even more unhinged. Knowing how George R.R. Martin's adaptations tend to go,...

After the long wait of nearly two years, our favorite epic fantasy political drama is back, and this time with even more dragons. Exclusive: It’s a case of good news-bad news for The Last of Us fans who have been patiently waiting more than a year for new episodes of HBO’s award-winning drama adaptation based on the acclaimed video game. When Season 2 finally arrives in 2025, it will be shorter than Season 1, consisting of seven episodes. But the good news is that a potential third season will be “significantly larger” and possibly bigger in scope, and there could very well be a Season 4 coming behind it according to series co-creators, executive producers, showrunners and directors Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Plus, one of the Season 2 episodes will be “quite big” in length.
The size of the Season 2 order was hinted at in January when Deadline revealed the lineup of the season’s seven directors, including Mazin and Druckmann. The duo arrived at the number of episodes after careful consideration.

Launched back in 2011, a fantasy drama show Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin’s book series A Song of Ice and Fire, was quick to become a whole new phenomenon on modern TV, and one can hardly ignore the epic series’ influence on the way the industry has transformed by adapting to its viewers’ high standards.
Despite its compelling storyline and all the variety of characters, Game of Thrones is still a somewhat synonym to the extreme violence that has accompanied its plot till the very end, though it seems that the show has been violent not only to its characters, but also to another successful HBO series.

Greatness in writing comes in different forms, and two shining examples of this virtue are prolific authors Stephen King and George R.R. Martin. While King is popularly known as the ‘King of Horror’ for his masterful depiction of narratives in the genre like The Shining, Martin is the bonafide genius of fantasy with Game Of Thrones.

The Game of Thrones series finale was one of the most controversial endings in TV history. The HBO fantasy series saw many prominent character arcs sacrificed in favor of a sensational ending, leading to many fans’ ire. Even the final battle with the White Walkers that the season teased was done away with by episode 3.
However, author George R.R. Martin, whose books inspired the show had a completely different plan for the story’s ending. In a letter to his publisher about the outline of A Song of Ice and Fire, the writer described what he planned to do with the series and spoke about the climax, which sounds much better than what the show ended up making.

House of the Dragon is returning for Season 2 and the cast is teasing what viewers can expect when the show returns to HBO on June 16.
Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Matt Smith talked to Deadline and teased what is ahead for the fantasy drama, with Smith revealing that the show will be more like its older sibling.
For Cooke, who plays Queen Alicent Hightower, returning for the second season of the George R.R. Martin-created series was like a homecoming.
“We know the characters inside out, and we’re sort of going back home, in a way,” Cooke told us. “We’re not afraid of the text or afraid of the big sets that are sort of home away from home.”
Cooke teases that in Season 2, Queen Alicent Hightower leaves the castle with the actor saying, “That was huge for me. I went to Spain. I went to Wales and I went to Surrey.

HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon has all the familiar concepts that GoT fans have come to love: magic, mystery, murder, and mayhem. However, a reveal at the end of the episode 1 took everyone by surprise. We find out about Aegon Targaryen’s A Song of Ice and Fire prophecy. Aegon the Conqueror was the first Targaryen ruler of Westeros and he had a vision of the White Walkers and that only a Targaryen with a dragon could save humanity.
It may explain why George R. R. Martin‘s Game of Thrones book series known as A Song of Ice and Fire received its title. It is a twist that retcons Game of Thrones and reframes the White Walkers’ defeat. This article delves into what this prophecy is. It attempts to explain what the implications could be for the future, as well as how it connects to Got.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Runtimes Could Make Up for Shorter Season - Main Image
Unlike the first season of House of the Dragon, which had ten episodes, Season 2 has been previously announced to have only eight episodes. However, the recent news on episode length may more than make up for the fewer episodes.
The premiere episode is revealed to have a runtime of 64 minutes. Its title, A Son for a Son, hints at a vengeful plot to even the odds after Rhaenyra Targaryen’s son Lucerys falls in the hands of her half-brother Aemond.
Episode 2, on the other hand, will run for a whopping 72 minutes, setting a new record as the longest of the series. This extended runtime is ten minutes longer than the average episode length of Season 1.

For years, fans have clamored for a Bloodborne PC release, hoping to experience the hauntingly beautiful world of Yharnam with enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay. However, as much as we love Bloodborne, the truth is, PC gamers already have access to plenty of titles that scratch the same gaming itch – albeit without satisfying the ‘exclusivity’ factor that Bloodborne continues to maintain.
Here are five reasons why a Bloodborne PC release isn’t as necessary as you might think!
Reason #1: Dark Souls III (2016) Facing a fiery dragon in Dark Souls III | Image via FromSoftware
Dark Souls III, another well-known masterpiece from Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware, offers a dark and challenging experience that is quite similar to Bloodborne. With its intricate level design, hard-core combat, and deep lore, Dark Souls III provides a satisfying alternative. The game’s gothic atmosphere and relentless difficulty will make any Bloodborne fan feel right at home.

The Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragon has so far had a good run and has quickly become one of the best fantasy shows of all time. Created by George R. R. Featuring how the House Targaryen lost its influence and the war of succession that followed, the show nonetheless has had spectacular reviews and reactions.

Initially released back in 2022, House of the Dragon was quick to become a whole new phenomenon in modern TV history. Being a part of Game of Thrones franchise and coming as its prequel, the show puts its entire focus on House of Targaryen’s story full of cruelty, blood and dragon fire.
While House of the Dragon seems to follow its predecessor’s suit and keep a similar tone, it still appears to have a unique approach to the history of Game of Thrones’ most controversial family, and it may be due to some real-life inspiration that eventually strengthened the show’s authenticity.
In the upcoming second season, House of the Dragon will kick off a grand full-scale war between the divided family members of House of Targaryen, proving that even tight bonds can’t be a reason solid enough for not staking everything in an attempt to gain ultimate power.

Building upon the basic principles of developer FromSoftware’s previous cult hit games, Elden Ring brings players an exquisitely absorbing fantasy. Everywhere you go, there’s always something alluring, or something that can obliterate you, or both. There’s no doubt that exploring and slowly conquering this masterwork feels like an achievement.
One of Elden Ring’s most striking aspects was the involvement of Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin. While many reports in the past have suggested that Martin played a major role in crafting the universe of the Elden Ring, it seems like Hidetaka Miyazaki was the one who gave us this beautiful universe all along.

While many reports in the past have suggested that Martin played a major role in crafting the universe of the Elden Ring, it seems like Hidetaka Miyazaki was the one who gave us this beautiful universe all along.

Before he wrote such memorable lines as, "A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone" and "death is so terribly final, while life is full of possibilities," novelist George R.R. Martin helped pen another instantly quotable turn of phrase: "It's rock and roll, you dumb son of a b***h!"
This quote is hilarious on its own, but even funnier when put in context: it comes partway through a now-forgotten episode of a once-popular "Twilight Zone" reboot series that aired from 1985 to 1989. The speaker of the quote is Gary Pitkin (Jeff Yagher), a spot-on Elvis impersonator. The subject of his ridicule? It's the King himself, also played by Yagher in a time travel plot that sees the two men come face to face on the eve of Elvis' first studio session. It doesn't go well. The episode, "The Once and Future King," was written by Martin from a story by Bryce Maritano.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 is only a few weeks away from finally arriving at Max, bringing in a highly anticipated full-scale war between House of Targaryen’s divided members.
Since the very beginning of the show that was launched in 2022, the storyline has been keeping fans on the edge of their seats, wondering if the friendship between Rhaenyra and Alicent will ever get another chance to be revived.
Though House of the Dragon’s creators surely added something of their own instead of sticking to George R.R. Martin’s story (just like the same happened to Game of Thrones back in the day), this time things are radically different, and the book series’ lovers already know why.

We are all set to return to the world of Targaryen politics soon with House of the Dragon Season 2. The Matt Smith prequel series, set 200 years before Game of Thrones, has garnered widespread praise after its premiere in late 2022.
House of the Dragon Season 2 raised several headlines when it continued its filming and was completed in time even after facing the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, it faced another significant issue when co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik left the show. According to a recent interview by Matt Smith, fans will feel Sapochnik’s absence in the second season.

After the Game of Thrones Season 8 debacle, fans had given up all hope from the franchise. George R. R. Martin’s creation, often considered one of the best works in fantasy, lost fans very quickly. But out came House of the Dragon to the rescue, and proved that his works can stand even the toughest of times.
Princess Rhaenys in House of the Dragon| Max
Though Game of Thrones was criticized for going off the rails, way more than Martin would have liked, the prequel show House of the Dragon has taken its own liberties as well. But so far, these have worked in favor of the showrunners, as the response has been largely positive.
One of the changes made to the Targaryen conflict was the initial contender against Viserys at the beginning of the saga. Though Rhaenys is presented as a prime candidate, Martin’s Fire & Blood chose someone else.

One of the most recurring themes of Game of Thrones was its intense death sequences. There is hardly any episode that does not feature an individual death or a large-scale massacre. However, no matter how many deaths the show features, very few of them hit us like the brutal killing of Oberyn Martell.

Oberyn Martell was a breakout role for Pedro Pascal and had a massive contribution to his worldwide stardom. The charming Dornish prince was introduced in Season 4 and quickly became a fan-favorite for his charming personality.
Sadly, the Red Viper could not even last for a full season. A decade ago, on this day, he left the epic after being involved in one of the most scarring death scenes in television history.

In 2011, HBO embarked on a mega-prospect to adapt George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels into live-action. A production that started off with grounded ambition soon took flight to become one of the world’s most recognizable and acclaimed series of such genre, at least for most of it. Starring the likes of Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, and Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones went on to rule global charts. However, the process of creating this behemoth did not come easy and did involve certain challenges, forcing changes.

It’s quite hard to believe that we have lived through a time when wearing masks and being vaccinated was as necessary as oxygen to breathe. The Covid-19 pandemic shut down various systems and threatened to disrupt entire industries. So, when Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal envisioned a Game of Thrones spinoff show focusing on the Targaryens, they knew they had to act fast and see what becomes of it. Matt Smith was one of the first actors they thought of.
HBO was not too keen on monopolizing the Westeros universe. They felt that the story needed new angles and perspectives. Subsequently, HBO canceled the other spinoff titled Bloodmoon after it reportedly went over budget. House of the Dragon was a saving grace since it would give fans something refreshing while ensuring success for the channel.

Since the days of finger painting stories on cave walls, storytellers have known the secret of telling a quality fable. If your characters have flaws, they will resonate, even the villains.
One-dimensional characters just don't cut it, even if they're relegated to a distant, supporting role.
Some pundits are decrying the use of the deeply flawed character as an overdone trope that should die an ignominious death.
Yet, here we are, with the most acutely compromised characters reigning supreme on our TV screens and reverberating throughout our social interactions.
The art of creating the 'grey' character isn't going away any time soon, as this list of 13 deeply flawed characters clearly demonstrates.

When Emilia Clarke Said That The Avengers Movies Were Silly & Then Joined The MCU With Marvel’s Secret Invasion( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emilia Clarke is not an unknown name. She became popular as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, aka Daenerys Targaryen. She became a household name because of the gory HBO series based on George Rr Martin’s works. She recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, with Secret Invasion, but a few years before the Marvel series, the actress made a not-so-likable comment about Marvel movies, such as the Avengers films. Scroll below for more.
Clarke appeared in the leading role in the miniseries Secret Invasion. She plays Gi’ah, daughter of Talos, who works for Gravik [leader of rebel Skrulls], but things change by the end of the series. The show did not get such a good response from the fans. The critics rated it 52% on Tomatometer, and the Audience Score is 46% overall on Rotten Tomatoes.

The relevance of Game of Thrones in modern pop culture has, by definition, changed and revolutionized the concept of entertainment television and epic storytelling. Although the era of limited vision and critical thinking might be taking a back seat, the unpredictably unsatisfying ending to Season 8 of the HBO series still exists under heightened scrutiny and constant debate.

Adapting the work of anyone’s favorite book, comic, etc. is always a damning task. So rarely will the writer nail everything that a fan loves about the work…and that’s just what fans want: everything to be right. But that’s virtually an impossible feat – and George R.R. Martin is sick of writers even trying, saying they “never make it better.”
In a new blog posted titled “The Adaptation Tango”, George R.R. Martin took adaptations to task, calling their scribes out for feeble attempts at making the project their own. “No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and “improve” on it. “The book is the book, the film is the film,” they will tell you, as if they were saying something profound.

Matt Smith is one of the most prominent actors on the cast of House Of The Dragon, a Game of Thrones spinoff set in the Seven Kingdoms. He is known to series lovers as the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who and as Prince Philip in Netflix’s The Crown. Smith initially had some doubts about playing Daemon Targaryen in the spinoff series as it came soon after the finale season of Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon’s second season is already less than a month away from arriving at Max, and all the recently released promo teasers and trailers prove that there’s nothing peaceful and amicable to expect from the approaching installment.
Though the show’s creators already teased much bigger roles for the younger heirs of House of Targaryen divided by a big feud between Rhaenyra and Alicent, the latter ones still seem to be on the forefront of the upcoming full-scale war.
Despite that, however belligerent Rhaenyra appears to be in Game of Thrones’ prequel, fans of George R.R. Martin’s books aren’t used to seeing her like this at all.

George R.R. Martin, whose “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels were very successfully turned into HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” does not like how nearly all literary adaptations come out on screen.
Hollywood has “gotten worse” when it comes to honoring source material, Martin said.

The popular Game of Thrones franchise is one of the best-known and most popular adaptations in history. But it is just a drop of water in a vast ocean of adaptations that have been present since the earliest days of cinema. Now, for years, people have been debating whether adaptations are good or not, whether they can properly present a work or not, or whether they can elevate it. While most people will agree that an adaptation cannot be as good as the original, there are examples where an adaptation elevated the original work, like in the case of Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, where the movie remains far superior to the novel.
Author George R.R. Martin, the author of Game of Thrones, has recently provided his own opinion on the matter and has aligned himself with those who think that adaptations don’t really do much for the works in question.

Martin has been very critical of unfaithful adaptations of literature over the years, and in a recent blog post, the revered author once again vented his frustrations towards this practice. The Fire & Blood author slammed screenwriters and producers for being eager to make the stories their own by straying away from the original without improving upon them.
But despite his reasonable pushback towards this industry practice, Martin once again found himself in the crosshairs of fan outrage following the delay in his The Winds of Winter.

Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has a bone to pick with film and TV adaptations of books that, according to him, fail to live up to their original source material. In a new blog post, the author expressed disappointment in film and TV adaptations failing to emulate the books properly.
Martin, whose Game Of Thrones books birthed a successful HBO series, did not name the shows or movies that failed to do justice to the source material. However, he did recall a panel with Neil Gaiman, the creator of the comic book series Sandman, which Netflix adapted into a series.
While recalling the experience, George R.R. Martin stated, “If anything, things have gotten worse.”

George R.R. Martin is calling out film and TV adaptations of books that don’t live up to their source material.
In a new blog post, the author recalls a panel with Neil Gaiman, the creator of the comic book series Sandman, which Netflix adapted into a series. Gaiman was involved in developing the Netflix series, and although Martin didn’t comment on the adaptation, he said that “very little has changed since” 2022.
“If anything, things have gotten worse,” Martin wrote. “Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and ‘make them their own.’ It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by.”
Martin went on to cite famous authors like Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, and Jane Austen.

George R.R. Martin recently took to his personal blog to double down on his issue with Hollywood adaptations and screenwriters’ attempts to make source material their own. Martin previously spoke out on this issue in 2022 during a discussion with fellow author Neil Gaiman in which he lamented over the majority of writers in Hollywood thinking they do not need to be faithful to written works they’re adapting for film or television.
“Very little has changed since then,” Martin now wrote on his blog. “If anything, things have gotten worse. Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and ‘make them their own.’ It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen, or… well, anyone.”
